Why You Actually Need a Destination Wedding Travel Specialist

I am often asked, “What’s the benefits of using a destination wedding travel specialist versus the others?” Below you will see exactly why you should be using a destination travel specialist for your upcoming destination wedding.

The Difference

What exactly is the difference between destination wedding coordinator, wedding planner, and a destination wedding travel specialist? Well, there are quite a few.

Destination Wedding Travel Specialist

A lot of times couples will assume that the destination wedding travel specialist are all three of these things. When in reality, we really aren’t. As a specialist, I am here to make sure that you know everything about traveling to the location you’ve chosen. Did you know that in Mexico, if you do a legal wedding there, all documents have to be translated into Spanish? Or that the wedding couple has to have a physical done in Mexico prior to the wedding? Those are just a few examples of what you need to know about your location.

As a specialist I help you narrow down your location. So that you aren’t going through tons of resorts, I find what it is exactly you’re wanting in a location. I then provide you with proposals on what I feel best suites you. Also, by doing a room block, you are able to elevate your wedding and reception without paying for it.

I’m also here to take the stress away of having to make sure Nana or Aunt Valarie have their rooms secured. Did they get transportation to and from the airport? Did cousin Drake receive his passport in time? You don’t want it to be the week of to find out none of this has happened. Then you as the wedding couple have to stress . I say somewhat calm because let’s be honest, you’ll still be stressing just because of nerves.

I also become an advocate for you. Sometimes you might feel like you’re not getting your wedding vision across to the resort coordinator or wedding planner. I am here to jump on Zoom calls with you to be a bigger voice for you or to send follow up emails asking if something has been taken care of. For example, a resort I had reserved for a clients wedding was sold to a new owner. I reached out and made sure that nothing was going to change with the resort, what the resort could provide, etc. I also joined multiple Zoom calls to make sure that the new resort wedding coordinator was understanding the bride and grooms vision.

Resort Wedding Coordinator

It’s very normal for someone to not know the difference between a resort wedding coordinator, wedding planner and a destination wedding travel specialist. That’s another perk to using a destination wedding travel specialist, to explain the differences.

A resort wedding coordinator is the person associated with the resort you’ve chosen. They will coordinate between the resort and the wedding planner. Coordinators will provide you with an approved vendor list of vendors who can work at the resort you’re hosting your wedding at. They will coordinate the locations of all the activities that you may want from a cocktail hour to rehearsal dinner, to the bridal suite, to the wedding, and then reception. Another positive action of a resort wedding coordinator is they will make sure everything is on time. They will also help vendors go to where they will set up.

Wedding Planner

When having a destination wedding you may think do, I really need a wedding planner? Often times the answer is YES!

I know every bride has been dreaming of their wedding day for a majority of their lifes. It’s just part of it. What’s different is you’ve chosen to have it at a destination resort, so things like flowers, decor, cake, can be a bit different than it would be if you were home. Planners will also bring ideas to the table that you may not have thought of such as flowers that are in season, a fun cultural ritual of where you are getting married, and different set ups for the location of the resort you’re using. They can be stress savers just as wedding coordinators and destination wedding travel specialist can.
